The difference between a smooth day and a frustrating one around the bay.

How bad is the summer traffic?

The coast road slows to a crawl around midday in July and August. Start early — or ride a scooter and slip past it.

Where do I park in Kotor?

The old town is car-free. Use the paid lots outside the walls and arrive before 10am in high season.

Is there a shortcut across the bay?

Yes — the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry runs around the clock and saves the long loop around the inner bay. Just drive on.

Can I ride the serpentines on a scooter?

You can, but the road is narrow with big drops and it’s tiring and exposed on two wheels. For Lovćen and Njeguši a car is far more comfortable.

What do I need to rent a car or scooter?

A valid driving licence for the vehicle category, a passport or ID card, and a payment card for the deposit. Exact age and licence requirements depend on the vehicle — I’ll confirm them when you enquire.
